Basically in the shipping section, you create several new weight based rates, starting with 0.0 to 0.0 kg (or lbs) and have that as free shipping at $0.

Then you move on to 0.1 to 0.1 kg (or lbs) and set that at whatever fee you want to charge for shipping for a single item. Then, you create a 0.2 to 0.2 for two items. A 0.3 to 0.3 for three items, etc..

I see most people set values where the items have to fall  between so for example 0.1 to 0.5 but that just makes it trickier once you start adding more items to the store and you need to keep track of what weiht you assign to your items.

Keeping a 0.1 weight variable for most items works great. Once people add three to their cart, shipping will be 3×0.1=0.3 so whatever fee you set at the 0.3 rate will be used.

Just one tip – make sure you set the “Saved Packages” weight to 0 because Shopify gives it some weight by default, which will throw your new settings off.

So just to clarify, your retail priced items would ship for free? Since no weight is assigned to them they would fall into the 0.0-0.0 kg tier.

Do strange things happens if free+ shipping items and retail items are added to the cart? I tried a similar setup in the past and had issues, but this one looks promising. Thanks
