Why is my Facebook Pixel Red instead of Green? Did you screw up?

In this episode we find out why the Facebook pixel shows up as red instead of green sometimes. A lot of people freak out and think they did something wrong when installing the Facebook pixel on their Shopify site, but I’ll show you that there’s no beed to panic – its working just like it should.

The reason why it shows up as a red dot instead of a green dot is simple – the pixel hasn’t been fired for the specific conversion objective you’ve set.

So, when you have a brand-new Shopify store store and you’ve installed the FB pixel code, you should always check if works by installing the Chrome Facebook Pixel Helper extension ( Once you’re satisfied that the pixel gets fired on your pages, you’re good.

Basically the red dot will turn green as soon as the event gets triggered. So for example, after your first purchase, you’ll see that the red dot turned green – which means Facebook received the data and everything is up and running as it should.

Basically in the shipping section, you create several new weight based rates, starting with 0.0 to 0.0 kg (or lbs) and have that as free shipping at $0.

Then you move on to 0.1 to 0.1 kg (or lbs) and set that at whatever fee you want to charge for shipping for a single item. Then, you create a 0.2 to 0.2 for two items. A 0.3 to 0.3 for three items, etc..

I see most people set values where the items have to fall  between so for example 0.1 to 0.5 but that just makes it trickier once you start adding more items to the store and you need to keep track of what weiht you assign to your items.

Keeping a 0.1 weight variable for most items works great. Once people add three to their cart, shipping will be 3×0.1=0.3 so whatever fee you set at the 0.3 rate will be used.

Just one tip – make sure you set the “Saved Packages” weight to 0 because Shopify gives it some weight by default, which will throw your new settings off.
